No one ever wants to hear strange noises coming from their vehicle. Fortunately, the experts here at our Alfa Romeo service center can at least tell you what some of those noises are likely to mean and when you need to schedule an appointment at Helfman Alfa Romeo of Houston.

Clunking or Banging

If you hear a clunking, tapping, or banging noise from under the hood, this is usually a sign of a big problem. There could be issues with valves, pistons, connecting rods, or another crucial part.

You should get to our Alfa Romeo service center as soon as possible if you hear any of these noises, because diagnosing the problem on your own will be quite difficult.

Squealing

This noise can originate from a few different car parts. If it sounds like it's coming from under your hood, it could be an issue with accessory belts or even your power steering pump. If this sound comes from your brakes, it's likely that your brake pads are near the end of their lifespan. Our mechanics can replace worn pads with new ones.

Finally, if you hear your tires squeal when you turn at low speeds, get out your tire pressure gauge. It's possible that one or more of your tires are under-inflated. Fill them with air and get them to the right psi.

Grinding

This can also be a sign of an issue with your brakes. If you hear grinding, you may need new brake pads or brake shoes. Those old parts are making your brakes less responsive, and that could make driving more dangerous.

If you're in need of any maintenance or new Alfa Romeo parts, don't delay. Visit our skilled Alfa Romeo mechanics. We'll get your car back into top shape in no time!
