A Breakdown of MSRP

If you're in the market for a vehicle, you may overhear people using terms you're not familiar with. While you may have heard about Alfa Romeo MSRP, you might not be 100 percent sure what it is. To put it simply, MSRP is shorthand for the manufacturer's suggested retail price.

MSRP is the price the Alfa Romeo brand recommends we sell a specific vehicle for. In general, a car's MSRP is often what you'll see in its advertisements, and it's usually the price referred to in the reviews you'll see online.

How MSRP Differs from Sticker Price

When they contact our Alfa Romeo dealership in Houston, TX to inquire about pricing, some drivers are surprised to learn that a given vehicle's MSRP isn't the same as its sticker price. Instead, MSRP is just one of the factors a sticker price accounts for.

A car's sticker price is often referred to as its "total vehicle price" or "total price." That's because the sticker price accounts for all the fees associated with the related automobile. In addition to a vehicle's MSRP, the car's sticker price also accounts for:

  • Destination fees
  • Sales taxes
  • Registration fees
  • Interest charges
  • And more!

With sticker price covering more factors than MSRP, it's only natural that a vehicle's sticker price is usually higher than its MSRP. Although that's true, the sticker price still isn't the price you'll necessarily pay for one of the latest Alfa Romeo models in our inventory.

If you add a protection plan to your purchase, the final price you pay may increase, for example. Drivers who qualify for one of our new vehicle specials may discover they'll pay less than the sticker price for the vehicle they want to get.

Is Invoice Price the Same as MSRP?

It's not appropriate to use invoice price and MSRP interchangeably because they refer to two different things. Invoice price refers to the amount a dealership paid for an automobile, not the amount its manufacturer recommends a dealer sell it for. Although there are exceptions, the invoice price is often the lowest price a dealer will agree to in order to avoid potentially losing money.
